Artist Statement
My name is Elizabeth Valentine. I am the founder of The New Art Gallery . I am also an artist poet and children's author, my Published books are The Cavan Cat and The Meadow Cat and My Little Friend. The books are themed on life in rural sligo on the Wild Atlantic Coast with stories from my childhood days on my uncles farm and of summer holidays. The books educate children of the necessity to care for our animals and wildlife and the beautiful countryside that surrounds us, highlighting the ever increasing plight of nature under threat. Ive been a visual artist for many years and love the impressionist period, particularly Van Gogh and Klimt, and I love to combine the richness of golds within my paintings, whether painting flowers lakes landscapes or trees. Colour and texture is my aim, to bring passion richness luxury and beauty that will awaken the viewers soul.. as Van Gogh once said, "I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream"... this perfectly describes what I seek to achieve from my art work. Whatever subject I paint, I earnestly seek meaning beauty and emotion. I sometimes incorporate my poetry within my artwork allowing the visual and the spoken word to inter mingle, really allowing the viewer to immerse themselves with the artwork. I truly hope that you enjoy my work as much as I did creating it. Thank you.
